I thought I would revive this thread, in part in homage to Marskor, who inspired me and many others.

Here are two more paintings, the last of 2021. Both from a visit down into the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne:

And I wish I knew how to post them here, but the links from Google Photos never work correctly...and I can't seem to find the old link to "properties" of the images, which is how I used to do this...sigh.

You're in the right neighborhood...but it's just a bit downstream from there.

So the view is from the canyon near Wildcat, but that is Hooper Peak in the painting. It's actually a slightly different view of the same peak in the second painting.

I want to go back to Lower Mattie. Nice view of Hooper from there.

Nancy:
Post more of your SIL's work if you can. She is the real deal.
I can see why she is well regarded, she has that "it" factor in her art. Her brush work exudes confidence and has rhythm. She works with an economy of movement, efficiently applying color, she avoids overworking the pigments and muddying up areas of the canvas. The composition is complex without being chaotic. She summarizes her subject yet retains its essence. You can relate to the picture, it takes you there. You can feel the kiss of sun on your right cheek, hear the breeze whispering and water flowing. She not only has captured the moment, but also the procession of the day, the sun and the clouds above. Glorious!
