Sentinel Hub satellite imagery shows the Lake Aloha basin at Desolation Wilderness moving into its most optimally aesthetic stage with ice melted on the lake surface, snow still melting on the Crystal Range including still at spots along its west shore edge. Mosquitoes are likely peaking but that should have noticeably waned in about a week. Enough time has elapsed in the majority of sunnier areas for wildflowers to be green and peaking. The big mid April storm snows did an excellent job moving snow melt back to these more normal dates.

10-day weather forecasts at Fallen Leaf show lower breezes by 7/5 with sunny skies mid 70F temps.

After the holiday, I will likely do a short backpack to the north zone of Lake Aloha where I have some shots analyzed for large lake landscapes and will also work Sierra junipers more. Page top from 2017.
