sketchbook 2019

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

You guys are doing some really nice stuff. Are either of you selling your art? I have a sister that paints and sells at craft fairs and art shows. She doesn't really sell a lot of her paintings because of the prices but she make a killing on prints she has done into greeting cards and framed. Seems like local scenes would do great someplace like the Mammoth shops.
"On this proud and beautiful mountain we have lived hours of fraternal, warm and exalting nobility. Here for a few days we have ceased to be slaves and have really been men. It is hard to return to servitude."

Thanks Gary. Don't know about Balzaccom but for me, a lot of my winters here in Mammoth are my time for being creative. My "sketch of the day/sketchbook" thing shown here is just a preview of all my winter sketches done that will then either be framed and proudly hung in the TM store, cafe, Visitor's Center, or put up eventually, (one at a time - daily), on the Tuolumne Meadows Store bulletin board...also under the guise of "sketch of the day" up there too.
This summer I put up a total of 11 weeks of art...77 pieces...was somewhat successful too.. ~50 sold or given away to friends. FYI, the OldRanger and wife Kathy came up to TM, stayed for a few Twilight Lounge dinners, and bagged a framed watercolor that he won as being closest to, in the "When will Tioga Pass open" contest held here earlier.

As in past years, all my art is for sale up in Tuolumne and prices vary from $25 - $250 depending.
Thanks again for looking.
