2019 Fire and Smoke Impact Reports / Maps
Please report back here if you know of any fires or encounter smoky conditions during a recent trip to the Sierra.
The CAL FIRE map below displays general locations of major fires burning in the High Sierra Nevada and throughout the state of California. Fire locations are approximate.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Thanks Eric for the new links. Rather irritating how many government websites tend to continually change every year or three. Let's hope the recent two decade's August wildfire plague doesn't rise up again.

Fish Fire 7/18
Sierra NF:
Acreage: 77, Containment: 75%, Rate of Spread/Potential: Low/Minimal
Cause: Unknown/Investigation in progress, Personnel: 130, Injuries: 0, Closures: Precautionary Fish Creek Campground
Activity – Overnight fire behavior was at a low, allowing fire crews to gain ground in the suppression actions toward containment of the Fish Fire. Activity remains concentrated to the east flank where crews continue to keep the fire from entering the San Joaquin River drainage.
