NV Wilderness
I needed to get the family out for some backpacking but didn't want to deal with hordes of mosquitoes, dangerous water crossings, frozen lakes, etc., so I took 'em out to the middle on Nevada. I reported on this place in 2012:

It was a little warm driving to the TH:
And a good sized rattler greeted us on the way in:
But the views are always great:
We hammock camped:

Now for the good stuff: fishing!
This is tight water and stealth is a must. My son was using an 8.5' Tenkara rod with dry flys:

Re: NV Wilderness
We cooked them up, one by one, the simplest way possible; salt grilled:
Like Sarah Conner, these fish are targeted for termination. NDOW, USFS and USFW have a plan to poison out all the non-natives and restock with LCTs. The removal will take place Summer/Fall next year if all goes according to plan. So it may be a few (or more) years 'till this place is fishable again.

Nice report! I see you were doing 80mph
Sad they're removing the fish. They looked tasty!
How do your dogs react to rattlesnakes?

Re: NV Wilderness
After the snake encounter we made sure there was always at least one, usually two, humans ahead of the dogs on the trail.
Never saw another one. First time seeing one in 20 years of going there.

Re: NV Wilderness
Nice! Always cool to see reports from outside of CA -- thanks for sharing. I did some fishing on a stream in central Oregon last week but didn't catch any fish of consequence (only small rainbows and cutts up to about 6") so no photos. Also did an overnight trip along the Oregon Coast Trail so need to put up a report on that here soon.

http://www.ndow.org/Our_Agency/Licensing/FAQ/#fish2I’m a non-resident. How much will it cost for me to get my fishing license?
An adult non-resident fishing license costs $80. Non-resident adults may purchase an Interstate Boundary Waters fishing license valid only on Lake Tahoe, Lake Mohave, Lake Mead, Topaz Lake, and the Colorado River for $30. Non-resident youth (12 - 17 years old) may purchase a combination hunting and fishing license for $15. These licenses are valid for one (1) year from date of purchase. Non-resident adults may also purchase a one-day fishing license for $18 for the first day and $7 for consecutive days. Prices do not include nominal processing fee.
