Re: Body found beneath Mount Williamson
This is absolutely fascinating! Of course it's unfortunate for whoever lost their life. This body could be decades old. I'd love to know exactly what went down.

I was thinking the quote in the article from Roper was Steve, but it's from Carma Roper.

This discovery may (or may not) require investigation by a forensic anthropologist. My alma mater, the University of Tennessee, has what is known as "The Body Farm" and renowned forensic anthropologist Dr. William M. Bass. Dr. Bass, who founded "The Body Farm, has expertise in the identification of human remains.

I went to that body farm when my brother was in med school at UT, strange place. Too bad they don't have a dry alpine environment on campus to look at that rate of decomposition.

I watched a documentary many years ago about that body farm and the work done there.
If you don't know where you're going, then any path will get you there.

Re: Remains found in Williamson Bowl
Likely a climber given the location that only climbers tend to visit that talus realm but maybe someone like me...
When most humans die it is not expected, especially in old age, however there are times when a person will know the end is coming due to some disease like cancer. I've mentioned a few times before, if I'm ever in the latter situation, instead of setting up a usual cemetery or cremation burial, I am going to climb up into some remote location open to the vast starry Universe to die where no one is going to have any chance of ever finding me including any aerial reconnaissance. And no that doesn't mean I'll dig a hole or cave to get inside haha as there are plenty of places that cannot be seen from the air nor are ever likely to be stumbled upon by hikers, climbers, or backpackers. As a landscape photographer that often rambles in remote wilderness, there are vast areas no one has reasons to pass through. Won't even tell closest relatives or friends as they would be under pressure to legally disclose such. The funeral industry won't be able to do squat about it of course regardless of how much they rage about anyone trying to circumvent their system.
