I think you are talking about the American Alpine Club accident reports(?). They are still done, but you have to be a member or buy:
You can read all the accident and first ascent reports on their website for free, you just have to be a member or buy if you want the hard copy. They do a pretty good job of covering everything that is related to climbing or mountaineering but don't include hiking or lost persons reports.
