Circa 1982. Youth doing stupid things. Cooking dinner on southern flank of Mt Langley @ 13,800’, late January. Air temp: -6°F (day time), wind speed: ~45mph. Friend in red, Moi in dark green(?), NF V-25 3P, orange, to the right. A sun downer wind swept in, caused chaos for about 2 hours. We seriously considered a Plan B dinner of pop tarts, salami & cheese on crackers, Irish coffees - but we so stupid! The moon chased away the wind, and we enjoyed a still, starry night, ski/walk to the summit, moonlight making the snow sparkle like a field of diamonds. Moonlit Owens Valley vista in winter was magical. Was one of the most memorable winter camping experiences.

Whitney summit camp, July 1988. First time up there for me. Cold and wet after a late storm, but it was worth it.
