Mt Langley - late August

Hello, we have a permit for late August to summit Mt Langley, but are not experienced or comfortable with rock scrambling or snow travel. Does anyone have a feel for whether New or Old Army Pass might be clear of snow by then?

it’ll be iffy if snow free or not - still a decent amount of snow up high and it’s dangerous with snow on it - new army pass will get you there as well! Good luck.

Use New Army Pass. It is not close.

Old Army Pass is steep and faces NE, and at 12,000 feet it can hold snow a very long time. It is responsible for more than one hiker death.

New Army Pass faces south east (towards the sun), and is almost melted out now. It is also less steep, and thus less hazardous.

Check the satellite images a couple days before you go for the best information.
