I never thought about camping high and just driving a little bit more. I'd like the potential for a walkup permit if I need to change plans and that extra drive might be annoying, on the other hand, I'll be on east coast time, so maybe it would not be a big deal. Thanks for the suggestion.
Maybe I'll attach a tour guide flag to my pack, something like this (not my photo, just random one from web)
I'm not a climber, but the Red River Gorge is great
