Markskor

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Markskor seemed like someone I would have liked to have met. He had a lot of experience and a great sense of humor. He had considerable artistic talent as well.
So it was a shock this morning to see his handle colored purple.
Since there are already four pages of reaction to markskor's passing, and the news was posted more than a week ago, it's pretty obvious I don't know my way around the forum all that well. As a matter of fact, maybe there is already a link to his obituary somewhere on HST.
Maybe there is also a list of other deceased members as well.
Would it be possible to put a link to a deceased member's obituary at his profile page? Or, at least a link to the thread where his life is remembered.

Like SekiHiker, I just stumbled across this today. While I never met him in real life, I will miss him. I enjoyed his posts immensely and will raise a shot of fine whiskey in his memory tonight.

Oh hell, that is awful news. Had some great times on the trips we did together.

It is a strange and wonderous way in which we humans influence ourselves. A thought or action somewhere in the dark forgotten depths of time can forever reverberate and continually manifest over and over in new and novel ways. Nothing is singular, we are all one.

Mark's son Bryan is going to catalogue the artwork and attempt to donate it to the Tuolumne store.

Would it be possible to get Yosemite Park to show an exhibition of Mark's paintings in the visitor center or some other location, when it reopens? It seems to me that they have had art exhibitions before.

Sounds like a lot of work. Given Bryan is in San Diego, probably won't happen.

Very sad to hear. I met Marksor a number of years back at the store. He was great to chat with and I always enjoyed seeing his water colors posted on the board whenever I passed through. Even though I only spoke with him a handful of times I don't think I'll ever forget him.
