Just got word of this little fire by the snow creek cabin. Beautiful area in the trees, I hope they jump on it. Sounds like some idiots had a campfire in the vicinity, even with all the this wind and fire restrictions.

Mammoth Lakes Lightning Strikes 6/25
Inyo NF:
Under the watchful eyes and quick response of our firefighters, a lightning strike fire was prevented from spreading into Mammoth Lakes this past Saturday afternoon.
The strike was witnessed by one of our Fire Prevention Technicians scanning the landscape atop a fire lookout station as a storm cell moved though.
At the same time one one of our Battalion Chiefs spotted it too, calling in the report of smoke and a full suppression response.
Indeed, lightning strikes are a natural part of this forest’s fire regime. However due to this strike’s location, the time of year, low fuel moisture and potential for a rapid rate of spread, a swift response was necessary; keeping it to one-quarter acre behind Shady Rest Park.
We would also like to thank Mammoth Lakes Fire Department for assisting us in this fire for the community we protect together.
Additionally, the helicopter crew out of Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest who were propositioned at the Mammoth Airport.

CURRENT SITUATION
Situation Summary: There is continued threat to critical power infrastructure. Steep rugged terrain is making access challenging for fire crews in the South Fork of the Mokelumne Riverdrainage, however firefighters continue to construct control lines. Approximately 100 recreational visitors and PG&E employees were safely evacuated from the Electra Powerhouse last night at approximately 9:30 p.m. The control objectives are to keep the fire east of Hwy 49, south of Hwy 88, North of Jesus Maria Road and West Hwy 26 and Railroad Flat Road. CAL FIRE urges the public to adhere to
evacuation warnings and orders and avoid the area to allow access to additional resources.

Amador County: Mandatory evacutaions on all roads south of Butte Mountain Road from South
Clinton Road to Amador Lane.
Calaveras County: North of Hwy 26 from Montgomery Drive to Lower Dorray Road.

Washburn Fire In Yosemite NP 7/8
YNP:
The Washburn Fire is burning near the lower portion of the Mariposa Grove. The fire is about estimated at 60 to 70 acres. Firefighters are suppressing the fire from the ground and air. The Mariposa Grove is closed until further notice. All other areas of Yosemite National Park are open.

Started smelling smoke while tentless cowboy camping at 8k in Desolation about midnight today Friday. Breezy all night. By 7am while hiking out cleared to blue sky. Could see huge area of smoke to the south that upon returning home this afternoon noted is the Electra Fire supposedly started by a group on July 4th when a bonfire got out of control. Hard to imagine anyone would be making any fires at those bone dry hot elevations. I sometimes do wildflower work up that narrow road.

Very smokey in Walker/Coleville in the Antelope Valley and Sonora Junction area by the west walker. 2 days of smoke predicted.

Tioga road / Tuolomne medows are all full of smoke ( july 9).
