Bishop Creek Shuttle Closure Threat

Post by pastel »

The Bishop Creek Shuttle is a bus service between the town of Bishop, South Lake and Lake Sabrina that is run twice daily by the Eastern Sierra Transportation (EST). This is a valuable service for backpackers. It provides reliable shuttle service to Bishop Pass and Piute Pass.

The board of EST is considering terminating the Bishop Creek Shuttle. They have monthly public meetings.

At the meetings, the board hears from the public, reads emails and plays phone messages. I think that the board should hear from us that the Bishop Creek Shuttle is a valuable service and should not be terminated. You can email your message to

pmoores@estransit.com

or leave a phone message at

The next board meeting is March 10. Besides telling the board the importance of the bus service to backpackers, I think that explaining how the service is also good for the Bishop community would be helpful. Below is a list of benefits of the bus service for the Bishop community:
  • Accessibility to the National Forest to the community
  • Increased commerce for Bishop business
  • Reduced traffic on the roads and trail heads
  • Cleaner environment
