High tech firefighting

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

High tech firefighting

Post by dave54 »

In this era of firefighting using satellites, GPS, specialized aircraft, cell phones, data down- and uplinks to tablets, et al, there is still a place for these guys. No need to pull helicopters from other missions to supply crews, and are not grounded due to bad weather.
OTOH -- it looks like a military MRE box sticking out of one of the packs. Real food is preferred.
