The KeyholeCross Country Passes

Class 3 pass. Climb southeast from Muriel Lake to the highest of the Lost Lakes. Climb toward a small notch that is southeast of Muriel Peak, skirting the western edge of a small glacier. The Keyhole is a 4 foot triangular gap in a talus atop the notch. A short class 3 pitch is encountered just below the southwestern side of The Keyhole. Descend steep talus to the eastern shore of the lake below, staying on its eastern shore while hiking towards the southern end. Pass between Lake 11540 ft and Lake 11546 ft and head toward Darwin Bench.

Rambaud PassCross Country Passes

Class 2 pass. Middle Fork Kings could be difficult to cross in early mid season. Lower Rambaud Creek is choked full of brush and manzanita so ascending the southern end of Grouse Meadow and angle up to the 10000 ft level of the creek is a better route. Loose scree and talus lead to the saddle.

The South side is easy slopes where you have to zigzag through some trees and rocks.

The North side is easily approached from Palisade Creek by sticking to the West side of the drainage coming down from the pass. continue up class 2 forested slopes until you have to climb through a level stable talus field. The last bit of the ascent involves some steeper loose small rock.
